Massi Jojo
A Model of Sustainable Tribal Livelihood
Village: Rukuda, Tileibani Block, Deogarh
Massi Jojo, a tribal farmer from Rukuda village, joined the NABARD-supported WADI Project in 2019. Under the program, he developed a one-acre orchard with mango and cashew plantations.
Through continuous training, exposure visits, and technical support from KVK, OUAT, CHES, the Horticulture Department, and ITDA, he adopted scientific farming techniques, drip irrigation, and mulching practices.
Key Achievements
- Developed a productive 1-acre WADI orchard
- Successfully cultivated papaya, chilli, sweet corn, and sweet potato
- Achieved 95% plant survival rate
- Earned a net income of ₹1,25,625 in 2024–25

Santosini Samal
WADI – A New Hope for My Family
Village: Chheliamendia, Tileibani Block, Deogarh
Santosini Samal initially abandoned farming due to poor yields and lack of irrigation. With support from SARC and the WADI Project, she transformed one acre of wasteland into a productive orchard with mango and cashew plantations.
She received training in scientific agriculture and began cultivating ginger, turmeric, chilli, and watermelon as intercrops.
Key Achievements
- Developed a sustainable WADI orchard
- Became a Board Member of Kandribudhi Vegetable Producer Company Limited (KVPCL)
- Purchased a power tiller to expand cultivation
- Earned ₹1,25,300 in a single year
Impact
The project helped Santosini regain confidence in farming, improve family income, and support her son’s education at ITI Hirakud.
Pramod Nayak
Empowering Tribal Farmers Through Innovation
Village: Salohi, Tileibani Block, Deogarh
Pramod Nayak, a marginal farmer from the Bhuyan tribal community, joined the WADI Project in 2019. Through orchard development and scientific intercropping practices, he diversified his farm production and improved profitability.
Key Achievements
- Established mango and cashew plantations
- Adopted drip irrigation and scientific cultivation methods
- Cultivated chilli, ginger, mustard, cabbage, capsicum, tomato, and banana
- Generated a net income of ₹73,949 from intercrops in a single season
Impact
Pramod now supports the higher education of his children and serves as an inspiration for fellow tribal farmers.
Biranchi Kisan
Building Self-Reliance Through Sustainable Farming
Village: Jharmunda, Tileibani Block, Deogarh
Biranchi Kisan traditionally practiced low-yield agriculture before becoming a WADI beneficiary. Through training and technical support from SARC, he adopted modern and organic farming practices.

KVPCL Farmer Producer Company
Transforming Tribal Livelihoods Through Market Linkages
Kandribudhi Vegetable Producer Company Limited (KVPCL) was established under the NABARD PODF-ID Scheme to strengthen tribal farmers through collective marketing and business development.
